MANSFIELD: Repairs carried out to park lights

Emergency repairs have been carried out to lighting in a Mansfield park following a vicious sexual assault.

Staff from Mansfield District Council have carried out repairs to lighting at Racecourse Park following the incident on Saturday 28th September.

Staff at the council carried out the repairs after the Chad revealed last week that more than half of the lights on the park were broken. .

A council spokesman said all but two of the lights are now working, and these will be repaired once spares have arrived.

“Council staff have carried out repairs to the lighting at Racecourse Park. All but two of the lights are now working,” the spokesman said.

Last week Coun Steve Garner said that the problem had been caused after responsibility for lighting had been handed to Nottinghamshire County Council.

The district authority is now in talks with the county council to resume responsibility for lighting in the town.
