Mansfield: pub’s event to boost coffers at King’s Mill

A non-stop, eight-hour run, ride and row marathon will lead the efforts of a Mansfield pub raising cash for King’s Mill Hospital’s oncology department.

The Reindeer, on Southwell Road, will host a weekend of fun, starting on Friday night with live music from 8pm.

On Saturday, from noon, there will be fairground rides and stalls in the pub car park, including a shooting gallery, bring and buy stalls, a tombola and a raffle.

Running alongside that, the indoor fitness fanatics will take up their challenge before a soul and Motown disco from 8pm.

The fairground rides will continue on Sunday, while the local scooter club will hold its annual ‘Eggs to the Mill’ run to the hospital, preceding a car park disco.

“It’s going to be a great weekend for the whole family,” said Dawn Owen-Foster, who runs the Reindeer on behalf of owners Marston’s.

“There’s a great team of guys doing the run, ride and they’re hoping to keep it going right the way through.

“I’ve been treated at the oncology unit myself and I imagine most people will know someone who has, so we’re hoping lots of locals will support us with sponsorship, buying tickets for the various draws and donating good quality items for the stalls.”

The pub is also hosting a psychic evening on Thursday 17th April, with monies again going to King’s Mill.
