A Mansfield pensioner whose wife lost an eye after he attacked her with a knife is to be sentenced in the new year.

Maurice Joseph Poismans (69) of The Patchills, admitted a charge of grievous bodily harm at Nottingham Crown Court today, Monday 16th December.

Police had been called to Mr Poismans’ home address, which is close to Abbey Primary School playing fields and is on a warden-controlled estate, on the morning of 28th October last year following a report that a woman had been found with stab wounds.

Sixty-eight-year-old Margaret Poismans was found later by wardens from the Patchills Centre, and police cordoned off the house.

Poismans is now due to appear back at Nottingham Crown Court in January.
