Mansfield opticians sets its sights on helping homeless people at Christmas

A Mansfield opticians is encouraging residents to back its efforts to bring some Christmas cheer to homeless people in the town.

Specsavers wants its customers and the local community to drop off food items at the Westgate store, which will then be passed on to The Hall Homeless Support Charity.

Store director Imogen Hoyle said: “For most of us Christmas is a time for happiness and giving and receiving presents but sadly for some people that is not the case. We just want to bring some holiday cheer to those less fortunate and help them on their way to a happy New Year.

“The Hall Homeless Support Charity provides a much-needed service to the local community and our whole team is keen to support the charity so they can continue their inspiring work across the town.”

Members of the Specsavers’ team will also be taking part in a Christmas dinner at the charity’s shelter on 19th December.

Specsavers is asking anyone who can support the cause to drop into the store with non-perishable food items, such as tins, before 31st December. Donations will then be taken to the shelter.
