Mansfield mum’s ‘disgust’ as NHS leave toddler without wheelchair after fractured ankle
A mum of an injured three-year-old girl who was told by doctor’s not to put weight on her ankle is disgusted she was forced to leave King’s Mill Hospital without a wheelchair.
Kelly King is outraged after the treatment she and daughter Scarlett were given at King’s Mill Hospital after the infant fell and fractured her ankle.

Kelly (26) said: “Scarlett fell and was in agony so we took her to hospital where doctor’s told her she had a bad hairline fracture and needed a pot.
“They said she was not allowed to put any weight on the foot - but they didn’t give her a wheelchair. Now I have to literally carry her everywhere and it’s just getting too much for me to cope with as I have two other young children.”

The single mum says her daughter can not even attend Oak tree Primary School as they are not insured to take care of her - but if she was in a wheelchair she could attend as normal.
Kelly, of Foston Close, Mansfield, added: “I am trying my best to take her to school for a few hours but that means I have to get a babysitter for my two-year-old son. She has got to have the pot on for another four weeks and I don’t want her to miss out on school.”
In a last ditch attempt to cope she has purchased a pushchair - but says Scarlett is upset by it as she wants to be a ‘big girl’.
“It just breaks my heart she has been left like this, she desperately needs a wheelchair and the only option was to rent one.
“She is under 16 and think this should be available on the NHS. I just can’t cope anymore.”
