In a statement online, Mr Bradley said: "I read this just now and have to say it's incredibly frustrating how local authorities do not seem to be able to talk to each other or work together.

"Policing the town centre is clearly a problem yes, but rather than MDC talking about employing private security with no powers (which we already have by the way, loads of bars and shops have private security) why can't they talk to the Police and work together to use that money in the most effective way.

Mr Bradley reacted after your Chad revealed that Mansfield District Council are looking into ways to effectively police the town centre, including considering private security firms.

Paddy Tipping, Police and Crime Commissioner for Nottinghamshire, said: “A number of councils have employed staff in support of community safety.

"I am currently involved in a national piece of work regarding security staff and guarding and, in what will be a national first, I hope to have a demonstration in Nottinghamshire later this year.”
