Mansfield to mark International Volunteer Day

A variety of events will take place in Mansfield to mark International Volunteer Day on Thursday.

In Mansfield, volunteers, with support from Mansfield District Council and Mansfield Community & Voluntary Service (CVS) will be holding an information and fundraising cake stall at the Civic Centre, from 10am to 1pm, to celebrate International Volunteer Day and to raise money for next year’s Mansfield Volunteer Awards.

Volunteering can cover a huge range of tasks, not just the traditional charity shop work that most people imagine. Just a selection of the interesting opportunities available in Mansfield this winter includes:

“The right match can help you find friends, reach out to the community, learn new skills, and even advance your career. There are lots of opportunities available across the District and so I would encourage you to come along to the information event and find out how you can get involved.”

The annual Mansfield Volunteer Awards, held in the summer, highlight the achievements of local volunteers and help to raise awareness of the vital importance of the work that they do. For more information visit www.mansfield.gov.uk/volunteering
