Mansfield man's bid to get firefighter's charity Christmas single to number one
Chris Birdsell-Jones who attended The Garibaldi School in Forest Town, and The Joseph Whitaker School in Rainworth, formed The Fire Tones which is made up of 40 firefighters from across the UK who sang Band Aid's ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’.
And the cover is so good that Paul Young who was one of the original members of Band Aid has called it his "favourite one."

Hide AdThe project is also being supported by Band Aid founder Bob Geldof.
Chris, aged 50, who now lives Welshpool said: "I personally believe that we have made something special.
"This single has been one of the proudest things I have done in my entire life - and that has applied to everyone who was involved.
"Everyone is rooting for us and that includes Mansfield.
"I have been getting messages from school friends I haven't seen in three decades."

Hide AdChris alongside other members of The Fire Tones also appeared on ITV’s This Morning show yesterday, Thursday, December 6.
The single will raise money for The Firefighters Charity and The Band Aid Trust.
Chris said: "It is about raising money for two great charities."
The idea was formed in a Welshpool pub when Chris heard the Band Aid single play and noticed that everyone was singing or dancing to it.

Hide AdThe single was recorded in Birmingham in October and like the original song it was recorded in one day and there was no rehearsal.
The single is available form HMV and will also be played by Next in their shops.
