Matthew Luke Parkin of Elder Street, Sutton admitted at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court to harassing a female by sending her numerous text messages and phone calls and leaving a message on her vehicle.

The court heard Parkin 28, had been in a relationship with the woman for four months, though they had never lived together.

The woman told police the reason the relationship had ended was that he was paranoid and controlling, telling ehr what to wear and when she could go out.

She said he was constantly contacting her and texting her and accusing her of cheating. On one occasion he had made threats over the phone following an argument when he had accused her of cheating on him and she had ended their relationship.

She started to receive multiple text messages and phone calls from him asking her why the relationship had ended and why she was doing this to him.

She had repeatedly told him to leaver her alone.

The court heard she had shown police 150 pages of screen shots of text messages and missed calls with him saying he wanted her back. A hand written note was found on her car windscreen from him begging her to get back with him and give him another chance.

There were no threats in the messages but she said: “His behaviour is causing me harassment, alarm and distress. I just want him to leave me alone.” Pettitt said the woman had blanked him and he just wanted to know why their relationship had ended and to get ‘closure’. He was given a community order for 12 months with a 20 day rehabilitation activity requirement and a restraining order for two years with victim surcharge and costs of £85 each.
