MANSFIELD: Man held over town centre hammer raid

A man has been arrested in connection with the theft of jewellery from a Mansfield store yesterday (Monday 6th January).

The 36-year-old man, from Nottingham, was this morning arrested on suspicion of committing a burglary at the Stamp King, in Market Street, at 12.25pm.

He is also being held on suspicion of possessing controlled drugs. He is currently being questioned by detectives and remains in police custody.

Two masked men used sledgehammers to smash through the window of the shop to snatch jewellery before making off in a grey BMW estate.
