Mansfield man causes alarm after one too many

Mansfield magistrates were told how Norbert Radzioch (21), of Seventh Avenue, was walking home at 7am after a heavy night drinking beer and vodka with friends when he started banging on the door to the property on Clipstone Road West, Mansfield.

Neil Hollett, prosecuting, said: “The victim said a male who he did not recognise was looking through the glass and pushing at the door.

“He describes how he had to stand against the door to prevent it from opening.

“His stepdaughter was upstairs in the property and had contacted the police.”

Mr Hollett told the court how at one point as he waited for police to arrive Radzioch appeared to be using a tool to bang on the door lock.

Suzanne Jovanovic, defending, said: “Mr Radzioch had been out drinking with friends on the previous night with friends.

“He remembers leaving his friends at 6am and heading home. The next thing he recalls is being with police on the street.

“The only explanation he could give was that he thought it was his own house.”

Miss Jovanovic said her client was extremely sorry this had happened and he had no intention of hurting anyone.

She told the court how Polish national Radzioch had come to England three years earlier with his parents.

A probation officer also told the court the 21 year-old presented as a ‘pleasant and polite young man who was clearly disappointed at appearing before the court.’

He was ordered to pay £72 compensation for breaking a panel in the victim’s door.
