Mansfield industrial estate fire - what we know so far

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service responded to multiple reports of an "explosion" last night on Crown Farm Industrial Estate.

Residents reported hearing a "very loud bang" which sounded like a "shot gun", coming from the KP Fencing premises on Ratcher Way, Crown Farm Industrial Estate.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue, Nottinghamshire Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service all attended the scene.

Residents across Mansfield reported hearing the explosion.

- Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to multiple reports of an explosion at 4.41pm last night (November 12).

- The blaze was at KP Fencing on Crown Farm Industrial Estate, on the junction of Fletcher Way and Ratcher Way.

- No information is known about the cause of the fire.

- Five fire engines and 30 firefighters attended the blaze, with crews attending from Mansfield, Blidworth, Ashfield, Edwinstowe and Arnold.

- Nottinghamshire Police was in attendance, setting up a cordon which remained for most of the night.

- East Midlands Ambulance Service sent two paramedics in ambulance cars and a hazardous area response team, however these teams were not required at the scene.

- The fire was extinguished by 6.30pm, with firefighters on the scene until 9.13pm

- A fire investigation is underway today (November 13), attempting to find the cause of the fire.

- Nobody has been injured as a result of the fire.

Speaking at the scene Gary Mulligan, Mansfield Fire Station’s incident commander, said: “We are not sure at the minute what the cause of the fire was, and fire investigations are now underway.

“We were called after multiple reports of an explosion and a large fire at Crown Farm Industrial Estate and when we arrived on the scene the fire was well alight.

“Approximately 30 firefighters and five fire engines are here at the minute tackling the fire, which was completely under control and extinguished at around 6.30pm.”

Following the blaze, Greg Mattocks-Evans, spokesman for the fire service, added: “Crews from Mansfield, Blidworth, Ashfield, Edwinstowe and Arnold were called.

“Two jets and one hose reel were used to extinguish the fire, and firefighters had left the scene by 9.13pm.

“An investigation will commence today into the cause of the fire. No one was injured.”
