MANSFIELD: Help mark St Peter’s milestone

St Peter’s Church of England Primary and Nursery School celebrates its 40th anniversary on 4th June - and former pupils are invited to come forward to help put together a special exhibition.

The school was originally based next to St Peter and St Paul’s Parish Church in Mansfield town centre, but was moved to Bellamy Road when the new estate was built there, opening in 1974.

“We have contacted quite a few people who are friends of friends and others have rung up, but we would love to hear from other ex-pupils who have photographs, old school reports or could write down their memories,” said headteacher Pearl Day.

“The school is changing all the time with a new building going up - it’s a growing school - so it would interesting to see the comparison with how it was in the early days and put together a timeline.”

Aside from the school’s activities on the actual day, a community celebration weekend will be held between 20th and 22nd June.

Ex-pupils who contribute to the exhibition will be invited to come along to see the results. The closing date for submissions to allow time for the project to be collated is 16th May.
