The JFA Lee and Ashley Memorial Furniture Project helps provide ex-servicemen and others with the essentials for setting up a new home.

Its stocks were running perilously low last month but the service has been inundated with household goods after a Chad appeal for more.

Project manager Jason Rathbone said: “The donations are of massive significance, without which we could not operate.

“The town of Mansfield is wrapping its arms round those in greatest need and that makes Mansfield a pretty beautiful place.”

Since the appeal went out the project has received everything from TV cabinets to king size beds, wardrobes and clothes.

A small fee is charged to help meet the costs of running the charity’s warehouse and collection service and to help run the JFA foodbank.

Another source of income is found by re-selling clothing donations, said Jason, and more stock is always needed.

“We are always in need of more beds and wardrobes,” he said. “But electrical goods and fridge freezers are really useful too.”

Volunteers can collect from your home Monday-Friday between 9am-5pm or if you are able to deliver in your own vehicle the warehouse can be found at Units 37-38, Old Mill Lane Industrial Estate, Mansfield Woodhouse.
