Two Mansfield firms are celebrating success at the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce’s (DNCC) annual business awards.

There was double joy for Spinelock UK, which won the Sustainability and the Most Promising New Business awards, while Hall-Fast Industrial Supplies scooped the Exporter of the Year title.

They were presented with their awards at a gala dinner at the Nottingham Belfry on Friday.

Spinelock was featured in Chad earlier this year after it launched a pioneering factory on Crown Farm Park from where it builds homes which are then shipped to another site, and fixed in place.

Speaking after picking up the new business award, Spinelock chief executive Derick Wilson said: “Winning this award after many years spent developing the SpineLock system, recognises all the professionals that have supported me in my endeavour to deliver this ground breaking technology in the housing market.

“As the company continues to grow and develop, new opportunities, jobs and apprenticeships, will be created, giving young people and those out of work hope for an exciting future.

“Winning this award will give credit to all those involved, and we are thrilled to be recognised in this way.”

And in winning the Exporter of the Year title, Hall-Fast Industrial Supplies - based on Anglia Way - has now won 20 major awards in recent years.

Delighted managing director Malcolm Hall said: “Exporting has played a key part in Hall-Fast’s success over the past few years and it will continue to do so in future years, so it is great that our achievements overseas have been recognised with us winning another export award.

“Our range of more than 100,000 products is unmatched in our industry.

“We already supply into 76 export regions and with the launch of at least 30 International websites by the end of the year I am sure that our export sales will increase rapidly.’’

DNCC chief executive George Cowcher said this year’s awards featured ‘some stellar entries’.

He said: “It’s great to see so many businesses in Nottinghamshire doing well. Bank of England Governor Mark Carney remarked on his recent visit to the city that the region is a bellwether of the UK economy and he’s right.

“Over the two years since the downturn officially ended, businesses in Nottinghamshire have been busy investing, innovating, exporting and growing and these awards are testament to the quality of business we have in this city and county.”
