Mansfield cyclists’ charity bike ride for Fountaindale School

The fundraising challenge for the Fountaindale SEN School will see the team - led by businessman Malcolm Hall - cycle from Morecambe on the Lancashire coast to the East Yorkshire resort of Bridlington in April.

It is the latest in a number of physical challenges and fundraising events that Hall-Fast Industrial Supplies has organised over the last 18 months for the specialist school, which helps youngsters aged three to 19 with physical and sensory needs.

The team taking part in the challenge is made up of Hall-Fast managing director Mr Hall and a number of other local people, including Rob Bray, John Starkie, Katie Atherton, Julie Leonardo, Shaun Eden-Taylor, Matthew Back, Caroline and Steve Smith, Craig Edwards and Jonathan Crowder.

They will set off from Morecambe on Friday 25th April and cycle the 170 miles across The Way of the Roses route, arriving in Bridlington on Sunday 27th April.

“It is great that so many local people have come together to support Hall-Fast with this event. Not only have the guys on the team committed their own time to training and to taking part in the challenge, they have also committed their own money to buy equipment and pay for accommodation,” said Mr Hall.

“Between us we hope to raise around £4,000 by doing this.”

The Anglia Way-based company, which has pledged to raise £40,000 within 24 months, is well on the way to achieving this with more than £22,600 raised so far.

And with the second Hall-Fast Charity Ball taking place on 9th May, which is expected to raise more than £20,000, Mr Hall is confident the target will be smashed.
