Steven Lee Chuter, 38, of Harrow Close, Rainworth, admitted failing to comply with the section 35 order made on Leeming Street in the early hours of Sunday, November 29.

On Tuesday Mansfield Magistrates Court heard Chuter acccept that he had been given a direction to leave by a police officer, but denied swearing and shouting in a public place and claimed he had only consumed two pints of beer.

Chuter said: “When he gave me the order I said ‘fine’.”

Chuter claimed he waited for a taxi to take him home but discovered they were all booked, so he returned to the centre and explained this to the officer.

He said: “He got really nasty with me and said I should have gone by now. He just wanted to arrest me.”

Magistrates fined him £150, and ordered him to pay costs of £85, a criminal courts charge of £150 and a £20 victim surcharge.
