Mansfield Caravan site still safe despite storm Bronagh

The warning states: "Sherwood Forest Caravan Park at Clipstone, Edwinstowe, Ollerton, Whitewater Lane at Whitewater Bridge and West Drayton is possible this evening."

Andrew Robinson, park manager at Sherwood Forest Caravan Park said: "We prepared for the storm last night, and it did come over.

"The site is still safe for caravans and we are expecting more high winds today.

"We have had several cancellations but we are prepared.

"We ensure everything is tied down and secured, such as awnings and anything else that my be a hazard in high winds."

Levels on the River Maun are rising in response to heavy rainfall, which will continue throughout this evening.

As a result, flooding of low lying land and roads is expected around Mansfield.

Residents are urged to prepare, remain vigilant and avoid walking and driving through flood water.

The situation is being closely monitored by the environment agency.
