The City Region Business Awards have been given a major boost after Sheffield College returned as headline sponsors for a second year.

The deal is a huge endorsement of the competition which brings together winners from the six biggest business awards in the region, including the Mansfield Chad’s Best in Business event.

Chad celebrated the best businesses in the area back in November at the John Fretwell Centre in Sookholme.

The roll of honour included the Lifetime Achievement for Mansfield 2020 chairman Irvin Robinson, while internationally-renowned hairdresser Mark Leeson won Business Personality of the Year.

It was also a night to remember for Mansfield Manor.

The Carr Bank Park-based hotel scooped the Business of the Year and New Business of the Year awards, while co-owner Diane Doran won Entrepreneur of the Year and staff member Kim Wilson was joint winner in the Apprentice of the Year category. Some 72 entries will fight it out in 13 categories to discover who will be ‘first among winners’.

Sponsorship by The Sheffield College adds to the excitement which is building ahead of the event on 3rd July at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield.

Nick Hewer, star of hit BBC show The Apprentice, is the speaker at this year’s event.

He will be supported by BBC Look North’s Clare Frisby who returns as host.

This year’s contest will celebrate the importance of apprentices to the region’s fast-growing economy.
