Two intrepid couples are teaming up for a daring 10,000 mile charity road rally to Mongolia driving two Morris Minor 1000s they bought off Ebay.
Chloe Silvers 26 and partner Geoff Carlin 34 of Mansfield Woodhouse will traverse roughly one third of the world across the roads of Europe and beyond as part of the Mongol Rally 2017 in July.
They will be joined on their epic trek by Don Baschek 23 and Carla Jacobs 29 of Warsop, to raise raise awareness and money for MIND, Cancer Research UK, Unicef and Coolearth.
Chloe a shift leader at Tesco, said: “It is becoming very real now and we are getting very nervous and excited at the same time.
“It will be quite something to see all the cultures opf the workld and everything you would never normally get to see.”
Chloe and Geoff bought their 1964 Morris from Ebay and have christened her Georgina.
They have taken the engines apart and moved the components to make them water resistant as they will be traversing rivers.
Part of their route will retrace the vertigo inducing steep highways featured in Top Gear.
Chloe added: “We have been working very hard the past few months to somewhat restore the historic vehicles to make them road worthy (although I’m pretty sure the roads we are going on they will not be so road worthy.”
Their journey will take them through mainland Europe and then Turkey, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and finally Ulaanbaatar - the capital of Mongolia.
The team has so far raised more than £2,000 and their vehicles have been sponsored by Clays Motors of Mansfield and the rally starts on July 16.
