Stagecoach have announced a number of cutbacks and fare increases. The reason, according to their website, is “From the start of the new financial year the Department of Transport is applying a 20 per cent cut in the tax rebate known as Bus Service Operators Grant, effectively adding 39p to the cost of every gallon of diesel we buy.”
Stagecoach East Midlands say they have been working hard to reduce fuel consumption and maximise their efficiency as a business. However, this fuel cost increase will inevitably mean that fare will rise and that some bus journeys where there are few people travelling, will be withdrawn.
Here are two examples: On Monday to Saturday the last journey from Mansfield to Ladybrook is now at 6.57pm with the last Ladybrook to Mansfield Journey at 7.04pm.
Service 7 Mansfield to Oak Tree - The last departure from Mansfield is now at 6.15pm with the last departure to Mansfield at 6.28pm from Oak Tree Tesco.
Trent barton service 1B Eastwood - Jacksdale - Selston – Underwood and Kirkby will be withdrawn with effect from 6th May 2012
East Midlands trains have announced that there will be changes to services on the Midland mainline from Good Friday to Easter Monday.
Most of these involve slightly later arrivals or departures, but anyone travelling over the Easter weekend is advised to contact the national rail enquiry phone line on 0845 48 49 50 or go to the National Rail website before travelling.
