Mansfield and Ashfield residents urged to do their bit to increase recycling levels as part of new campaign called ‘Are You Bin Smart’

Mansfield and Ashfield householders are being urged to do more to recycle their household waste.

Veolia - which is Nottinghamshire County Council’s waste contractor and runs the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in Mansfield where items sent - says residents should make sure the contents of their recycling bins are clean, dry and loose so they can be sorted efficiently.

It says there are so many items in folk’s day to day waste that can be recycled and made into something new.

Now the firm has created an ‘Are You Bin Smart’ leaflet and window sticker to let householders know how they can do their bit to increase recycling levels.

Paper – newspapers, magazines, junk mail (excluding shredded paper)

Card/cardboard – cereal boxes, egg boxes, cardboard tubes

Plastic bottles – including drinks bottles, milk bottles, bathroom bottles – shampoo etc (Please remove and discard lids)

Plastic tubs – yoghurt pots and margarine tubs only (Please remove and discard lids)
