The Darwin Ensemble Chamber Orchestra will accompany the performance while Martin Jacoby will perform the piano concerto and the whole programme will be conducted by musical director, Peter Siepmann.

Original choir member, John Gildens, started with Mansfield Choral Society in 1974, the same year ABBA won the Eurovision song contest with Waterloo, and is looking forward to the performance.

“The human voice is a great instrument and, along with wonderful music and its rhythms, is the reason why I keep singing year after year,” he said.

A total of 225 singers will form the combined choir for the event, which starts at 7.30pm.
