A man suffered a “severe” head injury and three others were injured in a crash in Pleasley.

Emergency services were called to Common Lane at about 12.40pm yesterday.

A spokesman for Derbyshire police said: “It happened near to the Pleasley roundabout and it involved a white Vauxhall Vectra and a red Rover 25.

“As a result of the collision, four occupants of the Vauxhall are being treated for injuries in hospital – a 27-year-old male rear seat passenger sustained a severe head injury.”

Firefighters from Ashfield and Mansfield and a specialist rescue team from Highfields attended the incident.

The man was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

Common Lane was closed between the roundabout and Shirebrook but has now reopened.

Anyone who saw the crash should call police on 101.
