A man was stabbed and a woman threatened with a knife in a fight in Kirkby.

Police said officers were called to Spruce Grove yesterday, “following a report of an altercation involving a knife”.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: “A fight is believed to have occured at about 10.30pm.

“Members of the public attempted to intervene.

“A woman was threatened with a knife and a 50-year-old man suffered stab wounds.

“He was taken to hospital and is in a serious but stable condition.”

A 35-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assault. She remained in police custody this afternoon, Friday, July 27.

Inspector Glenn Longden, Nottinghamshire Police’s Ashfield district commander, said: “Detectives are working to establish the circumstances of the incident.

“It is isolated and there is no wider threat to the public, but if you have any issues or concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak to officers on patrol in the area.

“Enquiries are ongoing and I urge any other witnesses to come forward, or anyone else with information which could help with the investigation.”
