A 28-year-old man who burgled a house in Kirkby has been jailed for six months.
Andrew Donner, 28, of no fixed address, broke into the house in Hampden Street between 11.30pm on May 22, 2018 and 7am the next day.
The occupant was woken by his wife to find a downstairs kitchen window left wide open and some items which had been moved. He realised his watch, mobile phone, cigarettes and lighter had been taken.
Mansfield Magistrates’ Court heard that DNA recovered from the kitchen window matched a sample taken from Donner.
He was jailed for six months when he appeared in court yesterday (Tuesday, June 26) for sentencing.
Speaking after his sentencing Sergeant Carl Holland said: “This is a good result for the local community and we hope it sends a strong message that we remain committed to catching those responsible for burglaries and bringing them to justice.”
