A 36-year-old man has been sentenced to 24 weeks in prison after he was detained by staff having trespassed in Mansfield Town football club's training room.
Officers were called to the site in Quarry Lane at around 10.20am on Tuesday (June 26)..
Lee Walters, of Rosemary Street in Mansfield, was found with a bag containing the new strip and was also wearing one of the kits.
He was charged with burglary and subsequently sentenced at Mansfield Magistrates' Court the following day having pleaded guilty.
Mansfield Police Sergeant Andy Doran said: "Staff at the club were obviously shocked to find Walters on-site on a day when the stadium wasn't open to the public. He admitted stealing the kits and has been held to account by the courts."
