Man found dead in Warsop home

A man has been found dead at a house in Warsop following an incident on Monday night last week.

Police were called to a house in Sherwood Street at around 10.50pm after concern was raised for the safety of the occupant.

On arrival, officers found the property smelled strongly of gas.

Up to 16 people from eight neighbouring homes were evacuated until the area could be deemed safe by the Fire Service.

A subsequent search of the house resulted in the discovery of a 45-year-old man’s body. A police investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the death, but at this stage it is not being treated as suspicious.

Residents were permitted to return to their homes the next day.

A police officer was taken to King’s Mill Hospital with minor injuries.
