Man in court after smashing Subway shop window in Mansfield

A Mansfield Woodhouse man was left more than £500 out of pocket after a drunken night out ended with him kicking through a window at a fast food shop.

Michael Willets pleaded guilty at Mansfield Magistrates’ court on Wednesday, to causing criminal damage to a door window at Subway.

The court was told Willets, 20 had consumed a large a mount of alcohol when he went out with friends on December 21.

He had aimed a kick at the door, shattering the pane and then made his escape into the town centre where he was later detained by wardens.

Willets, of Woodland Grove could not explain why he had acted in such a reckless way. He was fined £220, a victim surcharge of £22, costs of £85 and ordered to pay £240 compensation.
