Man charged with Mansfield jewellery shop robbery to appear in court

A man will appear at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court this morning charged with robbing The Stamp King jewellers in the town.

Kevin John Wheat, of Landmere Gardens in Mapperley, was arrested following an incident at the Market Street business on Monday at around 12.55pm.

Two masked men smashed the display window of the shop using sledgehammers and stole thousands of pounds worth of jewellery before fleeing in a grey BMW estate.

The 36-year-old, who is also charged with possession of a Class A drug as well as a burglary in Grantham on Saturday.
