Man charged with attempted murder after alleged stabbing

A 37-year-man has been charged with attempted murder after a man was allegedly stabbed in Chesterfield.

Mark Hill of Princess Street, Brimington, has been remanded to answer a charge of attempted murder.

He is due to appear before magistrates today.

At 9.45pm on Thursday, July 5, police were called to Sheffield Road in the Whittington Moor area due to reports of an alleged stabbing.

A 26-year-old man was treated by paramedics at the scene and transported to hospital by ambulance.

His injuries were described at the time as life-threatening, His condition has since stabilised.

The victim was sat in the passenger seat of a black Vauxhall Astra - parked outside Asda, opposite the Donkey Derby pub – at the time of the incident.

“The investigation has moved quickly since we issued that appeal on Friday, culminating in the identification, arrest and charging of a suspect.

“We all wish the injured man a full and speedy recovery.

“We remain keen to hear from anyone that witnessed this incident or that may have information about the circumstances that led to it.

“Also, if your dash cam captured footage containing a man and a woman on foot between 9.15pm and 10pm, please download it, securely save it and come forward - as that too could assist our investigation.”
