Man charged over serious Alfreton assault

A MAN has been charged in connection with a serious assault in Alfreton.

Anthony Helps (24), from Ripley, appeared before magistrates in Chesterfield on Saturday charged with serious wounding.

He has been remanded in custody.

Police were called to the Job Centre, King Street, at around 10am on Thursday, 31st January following reports of an altercation.

A 39-year-old man suffered serious injuries during the incident and remains in the Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham.
