A 32-year-old man was taken to hospital with stab wounds. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

This week neighbours said they were shocked by what had happened in the quiet cul-de-sac.

Phil Lovegrove of Gleneagles Drive said: “We had just got back from the pub and the ambulance was outside the house.

The ambulance and police were brilliant in getting it all sorted out.

“We didn’t really know them, they kept themselves to themselves. We would just see them passing in their yellow van.”

Another neighbour who did not want to be identified, said: “We got home at 1am and there were three or four police cars in the street and it was all taped up.

“You hear about things like this happening but you never think it will happen on your own street. Someone has lost their life and it is very sad.”

Craig Sheward, who has lived on nearby Turnberry Avenue for 11 years, said: “I heard some shouting and looked outside and saw a man who lives behind us with his hands on his head.

“It didn’t take long for the ambulance and police to turn up. When I looked out the window I could see the paramedics trying to give one person CPR by pushing on their chest and then they came back and took another one.”
