Man arrested after death of an Ilkeston pensioner

Detectives have arrested a man in connection with the death of a pensioner in Ilkeston.

Officers, together with paramedics, were called to a house in Station Road at around 10.30am on Sunday, May 14 following a report that the elderly man who lived there had been involved in a dispute with another man.

Following the altercation, the man - 86-year-old Derek Levers - collapsed and was helped by a passer-by. He was taken to hospital but died the next morning.

A 31-year-old Ilkeston man has been arrested and he remains in custody being questioned by detectives.
