Major Mansfield road closed due to unsafe building
Mansfield District Council are concerned about the safety of external panels on the Walkden Street multi storey car park, and have closed Stockwell Gate to traffic
Pedestrian access in Stockwell Gate is still possible and the council is working to try to maintain access to shops affected, which are B&M Bargains, Pound Stretcher and the British Heart Foundation.
Scaffolding is being put in place as a public safety measure and the council is working on a scheme, expected to start in the new year, to replace the panels.
The council have apologised for any inconvenience this action may cause but said that public safety has to be their first concern.
