Magistrate shows pity on town drug addict

A drug addict has been given a 12-month conditional discharge by Mansfield magistrates after admitting stealing aftershave and dog leads.

Robert Carr, prosecuting, told the court how Kelly Blakemore (33), of Padley Hill, Mansfield, was seen by Pets At Home staff taking dog leads without paying for them on 25th June.

She was also detained by a security guard in Debenhams after removing the security tag from a bottle of Armani aftershave and trying to leave the site on 26th November.

A probation officer told the court Blakemore had accepted both thefts and had committed them when she was short of money.

Blakemore was also ordered to pay court costs of £85, £20 compensation and a £15 victim surcharge.
