The northbound carriageway was closed between junction 26 and 28 for over two hours.

Trapped traffic had to be turned round and escorted back up the carriageway by Highways Agency staff.

The southbound carriageway was also closed for a time so the air ambulance could land.

The injured woman was taken to Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment.
