Low turnout can't stop fun at Meden Vale

A village hall open day which had live music, face painting and a bouncy castle 'could have gone better' if more people attended, organisers said.

Despite the fun activities, Andrew Ward, aged 35, Meden Vale Village Hall chairman, said only about 25 people from the village attended, even though the hall’s committee advertised it in advance.

He said: “Everyone chipped in and it was a nice day, so it’s a shame weren’t many people there. Not a lot of village folk turned up, they either want to use it or they don’t – it will close if they don’t.”

However £419 was raised at the event to go toward the hall which needs more than £2,000 raised before March in order for it to stay open – a Christmas Fair will be held on November 18.
