Longbow Business Club holds latest meeting

The third meeting of the Longbow Business Club took place in October, which aims to become recognised as the premier East Midlands-based group of like-minded successful entrepreneurs who share knowledge, skills and experience to benefit enterprise and the community. The event is designed to allow you to be the first to view a range of unique projects that provide exciting opportunities.

Education took the centre stage with a three new projects looking to drum up support from the Longbow network.

The Venture Capital Company, held the event at The Carriage Hall, which is the old Plumtree station goods shed, restored and converted by the Perkins Family, with selected guests whom were presented with a range of unique investment opportunities.

This event, sponsored by Hopkins Solicitors, was the third of its Dragons’ Den-style meetings, as Longbow continues on its quest to become recognised as the premier East Midlands-based group of like-minded successful entrepreneurs who share knowledge, skills and experience to benefit enterprise and the community.

The day kicked off with updates from the existing portfolio of projects, EcoRest, Keep-Me-Safe, Silvanus, Moonshine and Efficient Technologies Plc before the audience were then presented three new exciting investments. The first, presented by Peter Brigden a former Director of M&S, was Drumskool, aimed at providing all primary schools with the best music service, engaging all children through a safe, dynamic and fun musical experience. The other was Nottingham based company, Uni2 looking to launch its app and student lifestyle presence into other cities across the nation. Finally a glimpse into the future of mobile data and payments with a review of the V-code presented by Louis Davis.

The audience were also treated to a rare insight into the reality of forming a partnership with a Private Equity firm, from Gary Cormack with “5 Things I’ve learnt about Private Equity”, which was particularly well received.

Longbow’s very own FX Broker Ben Davies from First Rate FX, travelled up from Canary Wharf to provide insights on how companies and private clients can lock in the best rates when making payments in foreign currencies whilst obtaining a bespoke service.
