Long delays to drivers after bus gets stuck under Mansfield bridge

Officers were called at around 9.30am today (Wednesday, December 2) following a report of a Stagecoach bus colliding with a bridge in Sheepbridge Lane.

Nottinghamshire Police were on the scene alongside Network Rail engineers in an attempt to divert traffic and help free the driver and vehicle.

Motorists are advised to avoid the Sheepbridge Lane area as delays are expected to continue into the afternoon.

The bus was out of service and no one has been injured in the incident.

A Stagecoach East Midlands spokesperson said: "One of our double-decker buses struck a railway bridge in Sheepbridge Lane, Mansfield, earlier this morning.

"The bus was not in passenger service and there were no passengers on board and no injuries.

"Safety is our top priority and we will be carrying out a full investigation into the circumstances.”
