Lindhurst Park plan turned down by Newark and Sherwood councillors

NEWARK and Sherwood district councillors objected to plans for a park and wildlife area as part of the Lindhurst development on the edge of Mansfield.

The 24-hectare piece of land on the opposite side of the MARR Road from the development would be used as a Lindhurst residents’ community park and a habitat creation area.

The Lindhurst plan, which lies mainly within the Mansfield district, south of Berry Hill, was passed by Mansfield District Council amid controversy in July.

Councillors at last week’s meeting argued the land should be used for widening the nearby MARR Road to a dual carriageway, as the road was already over-used and would become even more congested.

They referred the overall Lindhurst decision to a Government planning unit, which Mansfield has already done.
