Len Knowles died peacefully in Banff, Alberta, Canada, aged 98, where he had been a resident since 1997.
Len was a Mansfield and Sutton resident for 78 years before his move to Canada.
His first wife Peggy, née Margaret Brown, died after a long battle with Alzheimer’s in 1994 and in 1997 Len moved to Banff to marry Mary Zevick, whom he met through a mutual friend in 1996.
Respected in both areas for his beautiful baritone voice and charitable works, he made many friends on both sides of the Atlantic. He was a lifetime member of the Mansfield Operatic Society, a member of Probus and Elliot Lodge of the Freemasons.
A member of the Shriners in Banff, he also entertained residents of old people’s homes – despite being older than most of the residents.
Survived by his second wife Mary, stepson David and children Amy and Brad, son Bryan (Australia) Jo and Megan, he had a good life and was loved.
A funeral service took place on November 16, 2017, in Banff, Canada.
