LETTER: Stop moaning about fracking and bring it on

I've just read Kev Rogers' article on fracking in the February 3 edition of the Chad. Read the article here

What is the matter with the moaning fraternity about fracking?

I have lived in Warsop all my 62 years and all my family worked in the mines with at least 12 pits within a 12-mile area from where I live.

We had subsidence, earth tremors, lorries and trains on a daily basis with dead rivers and little flora and forna, so compared to mining, fracking would not have the same impact on the environment as the mining industry by a long way. I think a lot of the people who are complaining about this industry are originally not from these parts or too young to remember the mines. Would they know most of the hills around here are old pit tips? I wouldn’t think so.

So I say to these people, stop your moaning. If it wasn’t for King Coal they probably wouldn’t be living in their nice warm homes now.

Just look at what can be achieved after a large, dirty industry has finished.

This part of north Nottinghamshire is now an oasis of flora and forna and the rivers are full of fish. So stop your moaning and bring on fracking.
