LETTER: Spend foreign aid money on local policing

Recently Prime Minister Theresa May was asked about the increase in crime and the reduction of bobbies on the beat.

She claimed the nature of offending is changing and there is now more cyber crime.

According to the Office for National Statistics, in 2016 England and Wales saw an increase of 13 to 14 per cent in gun and knife crime. Street crime, such as robberies and violent brawls, is also up.

Bobbies on the beat are a deterrent and a reassurance to the public. How about cutting back on the vast amounts we spend on, ofttimes wasted, foreign aid and spending it on our local police forces?
