LETTER: Sir Alan belongs to a bygone age

I have lived in Mansfield for 21 years and, during my time here, in my opinion Sir Alan Meale (now former Mansfield MP) you did nothing for the average person in Mansfield apart from the support of stupid projects like the refurb of Mansfield Market and the silly statues visible around the town.
Sir Alan Meale, Labour MP for Mansfield.Sir Alan Meale, Labour MP for Mansfield.
Sir Alan Meale, Labour MP for Mansfield.

I feel you have consistently stood idly by and let the council planning department do just what they want. The road infrastructure is appalling. The incredible stupidity of a so-called ring road that leads to nowhere and causes even more congestion on the A38 up to the motorway.
Wouldn’t it have made more sense to take the ring road straight to the motorway so that citizens of Mansfield don’t have to add at least an hour to their journey to get to work?
Not to mention that Mansfield is the ‘capital city’ of traffic lights.
The Mansfield taxpayer has had to bare the cost for, in my view, your poor leadership over the years and it was time for you to go.

Unfortunately you do not seem to have grasped the fact that this is no longer a ‘mining town’ you belong to a bygone age completely out of touch with the needs of Mansfield citizens today.

Enjoy your retirement. I don’t think we will be seeing you back either.
