LETTER: Remembering the Black Boy pub

Recently I listened to BBC Radio Nottingham Sunday phone-in show.'¨One of the things that the presenter mentioned was the Black Boy pub in Mansfield Market Place. This was, I believe, where Greggs is now. I am sure people are about who could either remember it or more so went in. A family I know well was in the licensee trade, originally the maiden names were Stevenson. Their father ran the Market Hotel. '¨Both daughters (Sarah) ran the Black Boy then the Belle Vue on Stockwell Gate.

Sarah I knew slightly, her sister Dorothy I knew well. She married a Tom Hinton, who initially ran the old Eight Bells and several businesses in the town, one being a dress shop on the Market Place where Eden Mobility is.
It would be interesting to hear anything about the Black Boy pub and the old Eight Bells when this family ran them.
