LETTER: Praise for town's flower displays
The towers, hanging baskets and troughs are beautiful and so colourful. It’s a pity some lazy so-and-so could not be bothered to walk 10 feet to a rubbish bin near Four Seasons’ Stockwell Gate entrance, but instead chose to leave a plastic bottle in one of the newly-planted troughs near the entrance.
It is also good to see the water feature working in front of the town hall.

Mind you, when there are things like the ‘safety barriers’ which have been in front of an empty jewellery shop on Regent Street for AT LEAST two years without any obvious reason for them, it doesn’t help. There is a steel security shutter to the front of the empty shop which you would imagine would keep undesirables out and there seems to be no damage to the paving in front of the shop to warrant the barriers.
Could whoever is responsible for these barriers please remove them – it does spoil the entire street.
Once more, congratulations and many thanks to the parks department.
