LETTER: Labour represents the working class

In response to the last few weeks of campaign issues from the Conservative Party.'¨Alan Meale and the Labour Party have worked tirelessly on behalf of the people of Mansfield for more than 30 years '” in my case representing the ex-mineworkers on various issues.'¨Not many of his constituents are aware of the fact he is one of a number of Labour MPs who have donated their contentious pay rises to various charity's and organisations in Mansfield.'¨He was at the forefront in the successful campaign along with the National Union of Mineworkers to reinstate the concessionary coal to the miners which was withdrawn when UK Coal became insolvent.'¨Alan is chairing the campaign along with the NUM to change to the current situation whereby any miner suffering with pneumoconiosis is sent for an X-ray. Instead the call is for any miner suffering with this debilitating decease to be sent for a CT scan which is a far more reliable means of detecting the decease.'¨And to prove the point I have recently received a letter from the DWP explaining that in 2016 an ex-miner was turned down for a claim for pneumoconiosis on X-ray evidence.'¨I advised the man concerned to ask his GP to send him for a CT scan which subsequently diagnosed him with pneumoconiosis. '¨The further evidence was sent to the DWP and the decision was reversed and an award was made.'¨Alan is also at the forefront in the campaign to redress the scandal of the government taking more than £8 billion from the Mineworkers Pension Scheme.'¨Jeremy Corbyn and recently John McDonnell at the May Day rally in Mansfield publicly stated one of the first things Labour would address is this injustice.'¨I urge you all to vote for the only party that represents the working class of which I am proud to be one, and that is Labour. In Mansfield Alan Meale.
