LETTER: King's Mill staff are unsung heroes

During April and May of 2015, I was admitted to King's Mill Hospital following several weeks of care at home and spent nine weeks in hospital where I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia.

I spent time on many wards, including EAU and latterly on ward 24 haematology.

I am now at home but undergoing chemotherapy and attend the welcome centre as an outpatient for treatment.

During all this time, the nurses, care assistants, porters, doctors, consultants, ambulance staff, catering ladies and many more ‘unsung’ heroes were the utmost professionals where nothing was too much trouble and looked after me in my many times of need.

I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at King’s Mill and wish to put on record how fantastic the service and care has been from the NHS.

It is important as many people as possible read this letter as far too often the NHS is criticised and “bad mouthed”, but I can say with considerable recent personal “experience” that the service provided is 100 per cent.

Once again, thank you all and keep up the great work.
