LETTER: King's Mill care was outstanding

The National Health Service and King's Mill Hospital specifically are often much maligned, but I wish to put the record straight, at least in light of my own recent experience.

King's Mill Hospital

I suffered a stroke on New Year’s day and was admitted to the specialist stroke unit at King’s Mill, where the level of care was simply outstanding.
A stroke is a scary thing, but every member of the team, from Mr Cooper the consultant to the caterers, cleaners and everyone in between worked hard, not only to improve my physical health but also to reassure my family and me about the prognosis.
The nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists all demonstrated the utmost professionalism whilst being friendly and approachable. This level of care has extended to those who are now supporting me in my home to aid my long-term recovery.
Obviously, I can’t say I can recommend having a stroke, but I can say any poor reports should be disregarded and that a patient can be confident they will receive the best possible care in King’s Mill.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank them publically for their support and care.
